Introducing Our New Therapy Group: FAQ Edition! Gender Wellness of Los Angeles is excited to announce the launch of our new In-Person Therapy Support Group: Trans and Nonbinary Support Group (Adults Age 18+). To help you understand what to expect and how to sign up, we’ve compiled a list of frequently asked questions below…
Who is this Therapy Support Group for?
This Trans & Nonbinary Support Group is designed to provide a safe and supportive environment where adults can share their experiences, challenges, and triumphs related to their gender identity. This group is facilitated by our very own Grace O’Connor, licensed gender therapist, who will guide discussions and provide professional support!
Who can join this support group?
Our support group is open to anyone who identifies as trans, non-binary, gender-diverse, gender fluid, or questioning. The goal of this group is to nourish the mental health and well-being of trans folx by engaging in thoughtful discussions and developing a strong sense of community. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, depression, or isolation as a result of your gender identity or expression, this group is for you.
When and how often does this group meet?
The group will take place monthly, on Sundays from 10:30am-12pm for participants to connect, share, and support one another. We understand what it’s like living in this busy world, though we encourage consistent attendance to build a strong, cohesive community.
When do meetings start?
This group will start in June 2024!
What topics will be covered in the group sessions?
The topics discussed in the group will vary but might include:
- Managing mental health issues that may accompany the trans experience
- Coping with depression, anxiety & feelings of isolation
- Building healthy relationships & growing community
- Developing confidence, self-esteem, and self-care as a trans individual
- Discovering ways to thrive because of, not in spite of your trans identity!
Where will sessions be held?
Sessions are held at our private therapy space in Sherman Oaks, California. Exact location will be sent when registration is confirmed. Our facility is designed to be welcoming and comfortable, and a safe environment for all. The space is accessible to wheelchair users and mobility devices. Sessions will take place outdoors, as weather allows.
What are the benefits of joining the support group?
- Gain insight and perspective from trans & nonbinary adults experiencing similar challenges
- Develop coping strategies and skills to manage said challenges
- Build a network of supportive trans & nonbinary peers!
- Receive guidance from an experienced gender therapist, who is a member of the trans community
- Experience personal growth in a nurturing environment
Can my partner join me in attending the group?

There are possibilities for future support groups that focus on partners of trans individuals. In the meantime, please check out our list of therapist-approved books on gender identity.
