Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Anita May Rosenstein Campus
THE CENTER’S SPECTACULAR NEW CAMPUS TAKES OVER A FULL CITY BLOCK IN HOLLYWOOD
On April 7, 2019, the Los Angeles LGBT Center‘s Anita May Rosenstein Campus held their Grand Opening Community Celebration, which was truly a celebration that we were thrilled to attend. The Campus takes over nearly one full block in the heart of Hollywood and it stands as the beacon of hope for the LGBTQI community in Los Angeles and beyond.
This project took more than a decade to make happen. Some of the people that helped make the Campus a reality included Mayor of Los Angeles, Eric Garcetti, LA County Supervisor Sheila Kuehl, Congressman Adam Schiff, Congressman Ted Lieu, Major Donor and long time supporter, Anita May Rosenstein, Chief Executive Officer Lorri Jean and others. Anita May Rosenstein donated over 8 million dollars. It was history in the making just being a part of the Ribbon Cutting.
Some of the performers and speakers included Lily Tomlin, Kathy Griffin, the Trans Chorus of Los Angeles and Alexandria Billings. The atmosphere was festive, exhilarating and beyond impressive.
The Campus will be a public gathering place for bringing many generations together to celebrate and learn from one another. It will provide expanded employment and educational opportunity for LGBT youth and senior citizens while offering safe, affordable housing in a community built on the principles of pride, strength and love. The Campus is state-of-the-art and must be seen to believe.
The LGBT Center started providing services in 1969 and today has more than 600 employees that provide services for more LGBT people than any other organization in the world. These services include Health, Social Services and Housing, Culture and Education, and Leadership and Advocacy.
