A LOCAL PERFORMANCE GROUP TO DONATE PROCEEDS TO GWLA, TO BENEFIT OUR TRANSITIONING CLIENTS IN NEED
For Good: A Monthly Night of Show Tunes to Save the World is a group of local musicians and other creatives who come together to provide a cabaret-stye ensemble performance at El Cid in Silverlake. The money the group raises in ticket sales is donated to a varying roster of organizations and causes. The funds the performance raises this month — taking place Monday, May 13th — will be awarded to Gender Wellness of Los Angeles (GWLA) — and we are thrilled and honored. In turn, GWLA Director Casey Weitzman, M.A., L.M.F.T. will apply 100% of the proceeds, towards one or more of GWLA’s transgender clients who are transitioning and in need of financial assistance to help cover costs associated with any number of treatments and therapies, unique to their journey.
***Also, Casey will donate her own money to a local organization (TBD) — matching the dollar amount raised during the performance — one whose mission and focus is allied with that of GWLA which provides counseling for people who are transgender or gender diverse and combines this with support through the relevant social, medical, and/or surgical components, as needed.
