Transgender Style: Getting Help from a Highly-Recommended Fashion Professional
INTRODUCING VICTORIA BORNA — A STYLIST AT MACY’S WESTFIELD FASHION SQUARE IN SHERMAN OAKS…
My name is Victoria Borna and I was born in Bucharest, Romania, and that’s where I spent my childhood and almost my entire twenties. I decided to leave Romania and seek political asylum in Western Europe and, then, chose to make Los Angeles my new home — a decision that I never regretted.
I started working at Bullock’s in 1987, after getting a degree in Fashion Merchandising. I loved it immediately! I was in the middle of beautiful clothes, shoes and accessories. I could help people look better and feel great about themselves when they left. Bullock’s became Macy’s and I continued my career with the new company. After being a sales manager for almost 30 years, I decided that I would like to become a stylist and work directly with our customers, helping them to find what they were looking for and put together outfits that reflect their likings and lifestyle.
This latest turn in my career has taken form in my position with the My Stylist program at Macy’s — a free personal shopping service that takes the worry out of shopping decisions and transforms it into a satisfying and enjoyable experience. When customers work with a stylist at Macy’s, they will learn about the latest trends, get style advice that is tailored to their personal preferences and try on beautiful clothes that will make them look fabulous.
We help all different types of people, including transgender clients. We have several transgender clients who enjoy working with us because they like our relaxed environment and they feel comfortable with sharing their needs for creating a new wardrobe that fits their new, emerging identity. We work closely with them, sharing our knowledge of fashion and taking a very personal approach on addressing their specific needs. I have personally formed close relationships with some of these clients while helping them find a personal style that fits their specific personalities the best.
Collectively, we understand that transitioning is a new journey they embark on, and they have many questions and unfamiliar grounds to cover. Our wish is to help them present themselves in a way that it makes them feel comfortable and confident with their new look. I love working with our transgender clients! Each one has a different fashion taste and it makes me feel very happy when they love and feel beautiful in what we chose together. We can put together a single outfit for a specific occasion or multiple ones for a more extended experience like a vacation, business trip, or a wedding.
Our office has big, beautiful fitting rooms and you can secure a space and time to work with a stylist by booking an appointment online (click here), by phone at 818.788.8350 x4444, by email at Victoria.borna@macys.com — or by walking into our office.
I hope to see you soon!
