The Lavender Effect
THE ORAL HISTORY PROJECT IS A POWERFUL COLLECTION OF VIDEO TESTIMONIES
Recently, I had the honor of contributing video-recorded testimony on behalf of The Lavender Effect whose mission includes, among other things, to:
- Educate the public and LGBTQ community about the important historical contributions of LGBTQ people to world civilization, as well as to California’s specific economic, political, and social development (FAIR Education Act).
- Showcase the full spectrum of LGBTQ diversity, human sexuality and identification through immersive exhibits, cultural programs, interactive media, and scholarly research opportunities.
The testimony is one of MANY other video stories gleaned from a broad, diverse spectrum of individuals that — together — make up the organization’s Oral History Project (OHP). These testimonies will be utilized for educational instruction, interactive exhibits, documentaries, and more.
On Saturday, June 30, The Lavender Effect hosted on event where several of these powerful videos were screened and I was truly moved. I strongly urge you to check out the organization for yourself and to view/share the videos.
