The Gender Wellness of Los Angeles Mission

COMMITTED TO YOUR LGBTQIA+ WELLBEING

“Our Mission is to provide mental health services and resources that enable transgender, gender-diverse, and all LGBTQIA+ individuals—and their families—to thrive. Your journey to your most authentic self starts here.”

Gender Wellness of Los Angeles is LA’s Premier Source for Gender and Sexual Orientation-Specific Mental Health Care. Our mission is to provide mental health services and resources that enable transgender, gender-diverse, and all LGBTQIA+ individuals—and their families—to thrive.

Located in the heart of the city, GWLA is a counseling practice devoted to working with clients — and their families — who are coping with the variety issues related to gender identity and sexual orientation. GWLA specializes in working with:

* transgender people (and their partners or families)
* gender-nonconforming individuals
* gender diverse youth — with or without their parents
* clients who identify as gay, straight, bisexual, polyamorous, or other

Led by Casey Weitzman, M.A., L.M.F.T., Gender Wellness of Los Angeles was conceptualized 30 years ago when founder Casey Weitzman was asked to work with a transgender therapy client. Casey quickly realized how gratifying it felt to work with members of the trans community, as a queer person herself who had faced discrimination.

We are committed to connecting with our local community and colleagues to further our mission. This includes an active membership in the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH). WPATH publishes updated standards of care each year, please click here for Standards of Care, Version 8.

We pledge to provide all clients with Affirming Mental Health Support in the following ways:

* One-on-one counseling
* Family & couples therapy
* Therapy Support Groups
* Gender-Affirming Care Referrals
* Free Community Events

Increased public visibility and awareness of transgender and non-binary people has left our community feeling vulnerable and unprotected. In spite of this all, we remain confident that progress will overcome — and believe that love always conquers hate. We know this to be true as more and more providers, hospitals and clinics welcome the gender-expansive community as the collective, societal conversation continues to evolve.

Gender Wellness of Los Angeles is excited to be a part of the solution, nurturing clients young and old. Though they might arrive feeling depressed, anxious and uncertain, many begin to find themselves and explore questions of gender identity. Some transition and some don’t, but together they find their own answers, feeling respected and supported. Time and time again, we have witnessed the ability of our clients to move forward, suffer less, and blossom — going to college, finding jobs, making new friendships and finding love — all while being their truest, most authentic selves.

We’re happy you’re here. Your journey to your most authentic self can start today. Call us at (818) 855-1105 for your free 15 minute consultation.
