Connecting with Our Community and Colleagues
Staying true to the mission…
Consistent with our mission to enable transgender and gender-diverse (TGD) individuals and their families to thrive, the Gender Wellness of Los Angeles Team regularly connects with the community we serve and with colleagues that serve our community — in a variety of ways.
To stay current with all events hosted by Gender Wellness of Los Angeles, please follow our Instagram or subscribe to our monthly newsletter.
In 2023, Casey and Grace (that’s us!) received tours of amazing gender-affirming facilities, including the Cedars-Sinai LGBTQ+ Center, the UCLA Gender Health Program, The Doctor West Hollywood, and Trauma & Beyond’s sober living facility, the Athena House. We attended fun community events such as LA LGBT Center’s Models of Pride and JQ International’s Trans Day of Remembrance Wellness Fair. We also hosted a dinner with a guest list of LA’s premiere mental health providers to advocate for TGD individuals in the mental health care space.
In 2022, we attended many amazing conferences and events including Edgy Conference, CCGAC Conference at UCLA, Models of Pride, TransPride at the LA LGBT Center and the LA Pride celebration at Universal Studios.
In 2022, we presented workshops for:
- Members of the San Gabriel Valley Chapter of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists about effective ways to provide support, guidance, and information to Transgender and Non-binary youth community, their families, and allies
- LGBTQ+ pre-teens and teens at Camp Brave Trails in Big Bear, utilizing arts & crafts to create “tool box” of coping mechanisms
- The clinician team at Community West, a treatment center providing comprehensive mental health programs for adolescents and young adults
In 2021, GWLA Founder and President, Casey Weitzman, joined the Clinical Advisory Board of Lightfully Behavioral Health which provides process-based therapy via residential treatment, partial hospitalization programs, intensive outpatient programs, and virtual services — when more care is needed. Nearly one-third of Lightfully’s clients identify as LGBTQ.
