It is not lost on us that our BIPOC LGBTQIA+ siblings face greater economic barriers and socio-political obstacles. This Black History Month, we want to pay it forward to our most vulnerable communities.

A Fall Affair with No Matter What Recovery

Casey Weitzman, MA, LMFT (She/Her): “WE ARE NOT GOING BACK! I believe we must come out when possible, find a chosen family if ours is not supportive and affirming, and work on what all of us can do to support one another.”

Grace O’Connor, MA, LMFT (She/Her): “It has been a monumental year for Gender Wellness. In many ways, we have faced worst-case political scenarios, with gender-diverse individuals, affirming care, and healthcare providers facing unprecedented attacks. Despite these challenges, our community remains resilient. I am confident our community will weather this storm and emerge stronger, and more focused on building a world where diversity is respected and celebrated.”

Courtney Davila, Web & Media (She/They): “2026 marks my third year supporting GWLA through Marketing & Socials. Though 2025 met us with many obstacles—from the LA fires to political setbacks—I am endlessly proud of the resources and safe space we provided to hundreds of individuals and organizations. Most importantly, I witnessed immeasurable resilience and strength in my trans & non-binary family members and peers this year. I am deeply proud of our grace and resistance. I love this community, and I believe deeply in GWLA’s mission.”

Samaria Stubbs, Office Manager (She/Her): “This past year, I witnessed something really meaningful. Working alongside providers who continue to show up for a community that has faced so much hatred, misinformation, and scrutiny from the White House administration, has been both heavy and deeply inspiring. The resilience of our clients (and transgender people everywhere), and the way our therapists and professional peers continue to show up for them, reminded me again and again why this work matters. As we move into the new year, I hope we keep choosing care, community, and courage, for our clients, and for each other.”
